These seedlings are available as bareroot and will be 6-10" tall.  

Male catkins show colorful red stamens in the spring and do NOT produce cotton or seed. It is a large, fast-growing, deciduous tree. Cottonwood trees can be used for many purposes, including pulp, lumber, fuelwood, and windbreaks. However, they should not be planted too close to buildings or overhead utilities because of their large size. They are easily grown in average, medium to wet, well-drained soils in full sun. All Cottonwoods prefers consistently moist soils, but tolerate drought. They typically grow along streams and rivers.
